John Murff assumed his duties as Jefferson County Drainage District No. 6 Field Operations Manager in 2020 although the transition to this position began in 2018. John began his career at DD6 in December 2000 as an Operator, and he was promoted to Foreman within months of his employment.
John has a lifetime of experience in management, construction, and farming, as he was co-owner and operator of his family’s rice farm and helicopter service from an early age. He also managed a local crawfish and turf farm. Prior to his employment at DD6, John held the positions of Construction Manager, Superintendent, and Lead Operator for a large construction company.
As Project Manager of DD6, John works closely with engineers, environmentalists, other government entities, Human Resources, Maintenance Department, and Fleet Department to plan and manage construction projects for the District. John also interacts with property and business owners on many levels, to include formal agreements and right-of-way acquisitions.
